3 vicious thieves who stole motorcycles worth lakhs arrested
Raigarh. To curb the ongoing bike theft in the city, on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Divyang Kumar Patel, a campaign is being run by the Cyber Cell team along with all the police station/post in-charges to investigate the current activities of the accused who were previously involved in property related crimes. Also, active informers have been deployed to keep an eye on them. In the same series, Cyber Cell DSP Abhinav Upadhyay, who was previously involved in bike theft, got information about the stolen bike of Bhupendra Sharma, resident of Patrapali, Kotra Road, on which the city superintendent of police Akash Shukla and Mr. DSP Abhinav, along with superintendent of police Divyang Patel and additional police, Under the guidance of Superintendent Sanjay Mahadeva, a joint team of Cyber Cell and Kotra Road police station was formed.
Today, the team conducted a raid and detained the suspect near Patrapali SBI ATM, from which the police team reached his Patrapali rental house to recover the stolen bike. Where two persons were already present who were running away after seeing the police, who when taken into custody revealed their names as Yogesh Khande and Laxman Patel alias Guddu, both residents of Mahasamund. On interrogating both of them, they told that Bhupendra Sharma had earlier sent them two bikes for Rs 5 thousand each. Riding on the same stolen bike, he came to Raigarh on the call of Bhupendra to buy another stolen bike. At the behest of accused Bhupendra Sharma, 6 stolen bikes – including one Honda Sign CG 13 AL-9003, one Honda Passion and 4 HF Deluxe bikes.
A Hero Honda Passion motorcycle has been seized from accused Yogesh Khande and a Hero Honda Passion motorcycle has been seized from accused Laxman Patel alias Guddu. Thus, a total of 08 stolen motorcycles worth Rs 4,80,000 have been recovered from the accused, in which the bike was Honda Sign CG 13 AL-9003 from the east in Kotraror police station and other bikes in Kotwali police station Raigarh, Kharsia, Sakti, Shivrinarayan. The crime of vehicle theft is registered in Korba police station. Accused Bhupendra Sharma has said that he stole the bike and removed its number plate. The accused further told that he would often stand at a crowded place and keep an eye on the two-wheeler drivers. As soon as the driver would park the vehicle and move away, he would break the lock of the vehicle, short the electronic device and steal the bike.
