30-year-old Bengali carpenter arrested for strangling his wife to death in Chennai
Chennai: Police on Thursday arrested a 30-year-old man from West Bengal for allegedly killing his wife during a quarrel near Kovalam. According to police, Dipankar Sarkar and Ramba Paruman (23) had come to Chennai a few months ago in search of work and rented a house in Kovalam. Dipankar worked as a carpenter and Ramba worked in the housekeeping department at a private firm. The couple often had arguments and on Thursday morning, their neighbour Selvi saw Dipankar rush out of the house and lock the door.
He also took his wife’s slippers and threw them inside the house from the window. As the house was locked till night, Selvi checked through the window on suspicion and found Ramba lying unconscious on the floor, police said. The Kelambakkam police reached the spot and rushed Ramba to the Kelambakkam GH, but she was declared dead there. Doctors confirmed that Ramba was strangulated to death. The police sent the body to Chengalpattu GH for post-mortem and traced Deepankar with the help of mobile phone signals and arrested him from Perumbakkam.
