33 injured as passenger bus overturns

Mandsaur : A bus carrying passengers from Mandsaur to Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh area met with an accident late Monday night, injuring at least 33 people, including 19 women and a child, according to police.

All the injured were taken to the district hospital in a truck and later an ambulance, where the condition of three passengers was said to be critical.

According to the police, the bus was a Jakhar Travels vehicle which was going from Mandsaur to Pratapgarh. He told that the speeding bus went out of control and overturned near Hathuniya Tola.

Following the collision, a commotion broke out inside the bus, prompting local residents to rush to the spot and break the windows of the bus to save the passengers.

After receiving the information, a police force from Hathunia police station reached the spot and immediately took the patients to the district hospital.

Tire bursting has been found to be the primary cause

Additional Superintendent of Police Hrishikesh Meena and administrative officers also reached the district hospital and took stock of the situation. ASP Meena said that at present the injured are being treated in the district hospital.

Although the exact cause of the accident is not yet known, it was mainly caused by a burst tyre, he said.
