Banda (Uttar Pradesh): During Kajariya immersion on Raksha Bandhan, a young woman and six children slipped and fell into the Yamuna river at Galla Ghat on Wednesday. Four of these children died. The woman and two children were saved, while four died. As soon as the news spread, a huge crowd gathered on the spot. Locals waded into the water to save the children but Vijay Laxmi (14), Pushpendra (8), Suryansh (5) and Rakhi (9) could not be saved.
The four children were taken to the Community Health Center, where doctors declared them brought dead. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the incident and directed officials to pay compensation to the next of kin of the deceased.
