40 minutes of rescue, 4 people saved
UP: Kushinagar district administration rescued four people trapped amidst the sudden rise in water flow in the Badi Gandak river of Khadda tehsil, showing indomitable courage. The team successfully carried out the rescue operation in just a few minutes in the dark and strong current late at night and rescued everyone safely. The villagers praised the rescue operation of the district administration. Here in the year 2003, 16 people lost their lives due to strong current.
According to Relief Commissioner GS Naveen, Kushinagar District Magistrate Umesh Mishra said at 8 pm on Wednesday that SDM Rishabh Pundir of Khadda tehsil and ADM FR Vaibhav Mishra reported a boat capsized due to sudden strong current in the Badi Gandak river. In this accident, four people were trapped amidst the strong current near the Puniyavan bridge. He told that District Magistrate Umesh Mishra sought permission for the rescue operation at night.
Immediately giving permission, the SDRF commandant was ordered to carry out the rescue. ADM FR Vaibhav Mishra said that SDRF reached the spot as soon as permission for the operation was received. Due to extreme darkness, SDRF expressed its inability to carry out the operation. Immediately arrangements for lighting were made. After this, the rescue operation was started.
