43 Hmar cadres surrender in Mizoram, promote peace

Mizoram: Important news has emerged regarding the Hmar insurgent group, which has been active in Mizoram for a long time. According to officials, approximately 43 cadres of the Hmar People’s Convention (Democratic) [HPC(D)] faction led by Lalhmingthanga Sanate are set to surrender their arms on April 30th. This is being considered a major step towards lasting peace in the state.
According to reports, this group is considered the last Hmar insurgent group active in Mizoram. Consequently, the surrender of its cadres marks the end of an important chapter of insurgency in the state.
Officials stated that the surrender process will be completed as scheduled, with the presence of the state government and security agencies. During this time, the cadres will surrender their weapons and begin the process of returning to the mainstream.
This move is being described as the result of a long-running dialogue and reconciliation process. Through continuous dialogue between the state government and relevant organizations, the insurgent group has decided to adopt a peaceful path.
Experts believe that such mass surrenders will not only improve the security situation but also accelerate development activities in the region. The prospects for normal life to return to areas long affected by insurgency are increasing.
According to officials, a rehabilitation plan has also been developed for the surrendered cadres, providing them with training, employment opportunities, and necessary assistance to integrate into the social mainstream.
The state government says this is an important initiative to advance peace and development. It will also send the message that problems can be resolved through dialogue and cooperation.
Locals have also welcomed this move. They say that the end of insurgency will create an atmosphere of peace and security in the region, making daily life easier.
Mizoram is already considered one of the peaceful states in the country, but insurgent activities have been reported from time to time in some border and tribal areas. Consequently, the surrender of this last active group is being seen as a positive sign for the state.
Security agencies believe this move will further strengthen law and order in the region and reduce the likelihood of future violent activities.
Overall, the surrender of 43 HPC(D) cadres is being considered a significant milestone towards establishing lasting peace in Mizoram. This event marks the beginning of a new chapter for the state, where development and stability are prioritized.
