5 Lashkar terrorists killed in encounter in Kupwara

Srinagar (IANS) Five terrorists were killed in an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Machil sector of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. “Three (03) more terrorists of Lashkar killed (total 05). Identity is being confirmed. Search operation is going on. Further details will follow,” Jammu and Kashmir Police said in a post on Twitter, quoting Additional Director General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar.

The firing started after a joint team of police and security forces received information about the presence of terrorists in the area. After the security forces surrounded the area, the terrorists hiding there started firing and the security forces retaliated. In recent times, there have been several encounters between terrorists and security forces across Kashmir, in which many terrorists have been eliminated.
