7 year old child dies due to drowning in water tank
Tahliwal. A migrant child died after falling into an underground water tank outside a closed mineral water producing industry in Bela Bathri industrial area on Thursday. The child’s parents work in the industry and when they returned in the evening, they did not see the child, due to which they started searching for him. At around 11 pm, they found the child lying in a water tank. It is being told that the children were playing hide and seek among themselves and as soon as the child went to hide behind the wall of the industry, he stepped on the wood kept on the underground tank and fell into it.
He died due to drowning. About 10 migrant families are living around this industry. Despite such a big accident, this underground tank has not been covered permanently yet. It is being told that this industry was sealed due to non-payment of bank loan. The deceased child has been identified as Jeetu (7), son of Chhote Ram, resident of Bihar, who earlier lived in slums in Bela Bathri industrial area and had recently shifted to a rented house here. The police have conducted post-mortem and handed over the body to the relatives. DSP Haroli Mohan Rawat said that the matter is being investigated.
