70 elephants trample 30 acres of crops in Sonahatu
Jharkhand : The surrounding villagers are scared due to the gathering of 70 elephants in the bamboo forest area of the block. On the night of 2017, a herd of elephants created havoc in the villages like Danadih, Chirgaldih, Baruhatu, Barisaldih, Senrenghatu, Raghubeda and Jintu.
The elephants destroyed 30 acres of paddy crop, gourd and sweet potato along with trampling it. Among the affected farmers, farmers of Danadih village are Kantheshwar Mahato, Maheshwar Mahato, Vinod Sonar Arvind Munda, Ritesh Manjhi, Somwari Devi, Visho Koiri, Sudama Mahato of Chirgaldih village, Purandar Patar, Maheshwar Mahato, Dhaniram Mahato of Raghubeda village, Shivcharan Mahato of Baruhatu village. , Kanak Mahato, Subodh Mahato, Madan Singh Munda, Vidya Sagar Mahato.
The villagers demanded the forest department to get rid of the elephants and pay compensation. As soon as the evening comes, it seems like curfew is imposed in dozens of villages of Jintu-Sonahatu and Galu Panchayat.
