70 year old man tried to rape a minor, the predator arrested
Surguja. A 70-year-old man made an unsuccessful attempt to rape a 16-year-old girl working at home in Kunni Chowki area under Lakhanpur police station area of Surguja district. The accused threatened to kill him if he informed anyone about the incident. After three and a half months, the terrified girl informed her family about the incident and reached Kunni Chowki and lodged a report. Based on the report, the police have arrested the accused. According to the information, a 16-year-old girl used to do domestic work while living in the house of Kauru Patel (70) of village Biniya under Kunni. Kaoru Patel’s wife died about a year ago. His two sons live in separate houses. He lives alone in the house. He had hired the girl for domestic work. He had the status of Patel in the village. He is prosperous because he has a lot of agricultural land.
Kauru Patel’s intentions went wrong on a 16-year-old girl who worked as a stay-at-home mom. On January 13, 2024, he molested the girl, removed her clothes and made an unsuccessful attempt to rape her. He threatened to kill the girl if she informed anyone about the incident. Frightened by this, the girl did not inform anyone about the incident. After about three and a half months, the girl informed her family about the incident and reached Kunni Chowki and lodged a report of the incident. On the report, the police registered an offense under sections 354, 354 (a), 376, 506, 511 of the POCSO Act and 3(1)(w) of the SC/ST Act against the accused. Police arrested the accused Kauru Patel alias Kadru (70) and presented him in the court, from where he has been sent to jail on judicial remand. Outpost in-charge Kunni ASI Rajeshwar Mahant, constable Anand Gupta, Mahendra Rajwade, Govind Toppo, Vikas were involved in the action.
