72-year-old man arrested for raping minor granddaughter

Guwahati (IANS). A 72-year-old man has been arrested for raping his minor granddaughter in Assam’s Hailakandi district. According to the police, the son of the accused lodged an FIR against him following which he was arrested.

It has been alleged in the complaint that the accused repeatedly sexually assaulted his 13-year-old granddaughter. The accused had threatened to kill the girl if she told anything to anyone.

After the registration of the FIR, the medical examination of the victim confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted.

An officer of Hailakandi Sadar Police Station said that after taking the statement, we have nabbed the accused, and have started further investigation. After being produced in the court, the accused was sent to police custody for two days.
