729 lost their lives in 1870 road accidents

Shimla. A total of 1870 road accidents have occurred in Himachal Pradesh from January to October this year. 729 people have died in these road accidents. The number of road accidents is not decreasing in the state. According to the assessment done by the department, till now in the year 2023, 729 people have died in 1870 road accidents in the state. Apart from this, 4814 people have been injured in these road accidents. The department has found in this assessment that most of the road accidents in the state are due to speeding and carelessness. A total of 550 road accidents have occurred due to speeding and careless driving, in which 223 vehicles have crashed due to speeding and 327 vehicles have crashed due to carelessness. Officials of the Road Safety Cell of the department say that the department is continuously organizing awareness programs to make people aware on road safety.

Officials say that the department is making efforts to reduce the increasing number of deaths and injuries in road accidents, but this will be possible only when the general public cooperates. Transport Department Director Anupam Kashyap said that the department has assessed the road accidents and deaths since January, in which it has been found that most of the road accidents occur due to over-speeding and carelessness.
