731 kg ganja seized
Hyderabad: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Hyderabad unit seized 731 kg of ganja during an operation in Vijayawada on Wednesday.
The DRI team conducted surveillance and stopped a lorry with a trailer on the outskirts of Vijayawada. Officers found a secret cavity in the base of a truck’s trailer bed. Marijuana packets were found hidden in this secret cavity to avoid detection. Officials said a total of 731 kg of ganja, worth Rs 2.19 crore, was recovered.
The ganja was collected from the agency area of Andhra Pradesh and was being transported to neighboring states. The contraband and the vehicle used to transport it were seized. The driver of the truck has been arrested under the provisions of the NDPS Act and sent to judicial custody. Further investigation is ongoing.
