8 killed in car-truck collision in Varanasi
Varanasi (IANS). Eight people died in a collision between a car and a truck on the Varanasi-Lucknow road in Phulpur police station area of Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.
Police station in-charge of Phulpur district in Varanasi, Deepak Ranawat, said that on Wednesday, Pilibhit residents were going to Jaunpur in a car after performing puja in Varanasi. Suddenly their car collided with a truck in Karkhiyav area, due to which eight people died.
All the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
According to sources, all the deceased are said to be from two families.
He said that a three-year-old child was injured in the accident, who has been admitted to the hospital.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep sorrow over this accident.
He wrote on social media platform X that he expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in a road accident in Varanasi district. He has directed the district administration officials for proper treatment of the injured. He expressed his condolences to the bereaved family, praying to Baba Vishwanath for peace of the departed souls and speedy recovery of the injured.
