9-year-old girl gang-raped, 4 minors arrested, one absconding

Kalburgi (IANS). A 9-year-old girl was gang-raped by some minor boys in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi district, police said on Friday, adding that the four accused have been detained.

The victim girl has been admitted to the hospital. Police have detained four boys in the age group of 12 to 14 years in this case. The juveniles have been sent to remand home, while the police have started searching for the fifth accused.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon in Kalaburagi Mahila Police Station limits.

According to the police, the five minor accused took the victim, who was sitting in front of the house, to an isolated place on the pretext of getting her chocolates.

The victim’s mother said in her complaint that the accused took the girl to a nearby house and gang-raped her.

After committing the crime, the accused threatened the victim not to reveal anything and said that if she told anyone, they would kill her. However, the girl somehow reached her home and told her mother about the incident.

The girl was taken to the hospital and a complaint was lodged at the police station.

The police swung into action and took the four accused into custody.

Police have registered IPC sections 366A, 376(G) and 506 against the accused persons. The police have also registered a POCSO case against them.
