Northern Army Commander praised Northern Front officers
Ladakh: Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi held three-day joint capability and enhancement discussions and appreciated the professional approach of Northern Front officers for coordination of efforts in achieving objectives in multi-domain operations.
Senior military commanders from the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) participated in the deliberations.
The Army is preparing to bring a comprehensive promotion policy, which will come into effect from January 1 next year.
The new promotion policy has been designed in line with the ever-evolving operational requirements of the force.
“As part of this, a comprehensive review of the promotion policy for selection of officers in the rank of Colonel and above has been finalised,” an Army official said.
He said the new policy will help the forces align leadership requirements to current and emerging operational challenges in both internal and external dimensions.
The new policy provides for increased promotion opportunities while addressing the aspirations of the senior leadership by providing more promotional opportunities to officers of the rank of Major General, officers approved only in the Staff and officers who are eligible for promotion to the next rank only in the Staff.
