Sai, Sav and Sharma will take oath
Raipur. Before taking oath today, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai paid tribute to two great personalities who have made significant contributions to the state of Chhattisgarh in the capital Raipur. In the morning, Chief Minister Sai paid tribute by garlanding the statue of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the pioneer of Chhattisgarh state building, located at Avanti Vihar ATM Chowk.
After this, the Chief Minister reached Jai Stambh Chowk and garlanded the statue of Chhattisgarh’s first freedom fighter Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh and paid tribute to his dedication and sacrifice towards the motherland.
It is noteworthy that due to the strong will of former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the long standing demand of the people of Chhattisgarh for a separate state was fulfilled. Due to the efforts of Vajpayee, Chhattisgarh state came into existence on 1 November 2000 after being separated from Madhya Pradesh.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee had decided in the year 1990 itself that Chhattisgarh was to be made a state. Shri Vajpayee was very fond of the tribal culture and forest wealth of Chhattisgarh. Let us tell you that the demand for Chhattisgarh state had started since 1965, but it was fulfilled by the government of Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Chhattisgarh’s first freedom fighter Amar Shaheed Veernarayan Singh was a tribal people’s hero who sacrificed his life for Chhattisgarh Mahtari. He was born in 1795 in a zamindar family of Sonakhan. Among the martyrs who died for the motherland in the freedom struggle of 1857, the name of Chhattisgarh’s tribal people’s leader, Veer Narayan Singh is the most inspiring. During the first freedom struggle, he instilled patriotism among the people of Chhattisgarh. He fought hard against the British rule to save the poor from hunger during the severe famine of 1856.
He formed an army of gunmen and fought bravely against the British. Through diplomacy, the British imprisoned him, tried him and hanged him on 10 December 1857. The struggle of Martyr Veer Narayan Singh for the motherland and people is still remembered. Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Samman is also given by the state government in his memory for his excellent work in the field of upliftment of tribal and backward classes.
