Hyderabad shivers as minimum temperature falls below seasonal norms
Hyderabad: There was a change in the air on Friday night and Saturday morning when Hyderabad witnessed a drop in temperature, sending shivers across the city. According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society, the minimum temperature has dropped significantly, showing deviation from the seasonal average. Cold wave was witnessed in the city and the temperature was reported to fall below 15 degrees centigrade in many areas. The minimum average temperature was recorded at 13.6 degrees Celsius, much lower than the normal expected 15.2 degrees Celsius for this time of the year. As local temperature readings came in, the BHEL area was the worst affected, with the city recording the lowest temperature of 11.4 degrees Celsius. After this, the temperature in Rajendranagar was recorded at 11.5 degrees Celsius, while Maula Ali recorded 11.9 degrees Celsius. Other areas affected included Gachibowli with 12.7 degrees Celsius, Quthbullapur with 13.1 degrees Celsius, West Marredpally and Bandlaguda with 13.6 degrees Celsius and Hayatnagar with 14 degrees Celsius, the lowest temperature ever recorded in India. As per Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, so far this season. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast indicating cloudy morning followed by partly cloudy sky during the day during the next three days in Hyderabad. It is expected that these conditions will continue and it is estimated that the average minimum temperature will be between 16 to 18 degrees centigrade.
