Retired police officer offering Namaz was shot dead by terrorists
Baramulla: Militants opened fire on retired police during a protest at a mosque, police said.
The slain former policeman was identified as Mohammed. According to Jammu and Kashmir Police, Shafi.
Officials said the area was cordoned off immediately after the incident.
“Terrorists opened fire on Shri Mohammed Shafi, a retired police officer at Gantmulla, Sheeri #Baramulla while he was reciting Azaan in the mosque and succumbed to the threats. Meanwhile, additional security forces have been deployed in Bafliaz area of Poonch district following the martyrdom of the soldiers, while an operation has been launched to nab the terrorists in the forest area of Dera ki Gali in Rajouri sector.
The Indian Army on Saturday said it is leading the investigation into the death of three civilians in the December 21 terrorist attack in the Poonch-Rajouri sector.
“Continuous search operation is going on in the operation area by the security forces after the December 21 incident. They have received reports of three civilian deaths in the area. The matter is under investigation”, the Indian Army published from its official site.
“The Indian Army maintains its commitment to provide full support and cooperation in the conduct of the research,” the publication said.
