Central agency and NIA officials reached Israel Embassy ‘blast’ site, started investigation
CHENNAI: Officials from the central agency, including National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials, have reached the Israel Embassy and started investigation into the alleged ‘explosion’ that took place near the embassy complex in Chanakyapuri area on Tuesday evening.
Earlier, Delhi Police targeted two ‘suspects’ after examining CCTV footage. Nevertheless, the authorities have not confirmed the involvement of the two.
Police are still examining CCTV of the surrounding areas to find out how the two suspects reached there and the route they took. They are also trying to find out the identity of the two suspects. Police have also found a threatening letter written to the Israel Embassy.
FSL sources had said, “The sound of the explosion was heard by a security guard standing there.”
Minutes after the blast, Delhi Police sources said a typed letter addressed to the Israeli ambassador was found in a garden area behind the embassy, where the blast took place.
Sources said, “A letter has been written to the Israeli Embassy in English in which threatening words have been used. The name of the group written on the letter is Sir Allah Resistance.”
“We can confirm that there was an explosion near the embassy around 5:48 p.m.,” Israeli embassy spokesman Guy Nir said. Delhi Police and security teams are still investigating the situation.
Deputy Chief of Mission (Israel) Ohad Nakash Kaynar said, “All our diplomats and staff are safe. Our security teams are working in full cooperation with local Delhi security and will investigate the matter further.
A guard posted at Hindi Bhavan told the media that he heard a loud noise behind the embassy and informed the police.
