Telangana: Alcoholics had fun by drinking liquor worth Rs 750 crore in 4 days
Hyderabad: Just four days before the New Year, tippers in Telangana helped the state government earn Rs 750 crore through the sale of liquor. On New Year’s Eve, December 31, there were sales of Rs 125 crore. Telangana State Beverages Corporation (TSBC) had estimated sales of around Rs 135 crore to Rs 150 crore on the last day of 2023. However, the days leading up to New Year’s Eve saw better sales, with figures seeing a rise. Till December 30, while liquor worth Rs 133 crore including beer was sold on December 28, the sales figure reached Rs 179 crore on December 29 and increased to Rs 313 crore on December 30. Most revelers would have stocked up on their liquor for New Year celebrations, with sales of Rs 125 crore recorded on December 31. According to excise officials, on December 31, 1.30 lakh cartons of liquor and 1.35 lakh cartons of beer were sold from 19 government depots.
