MP: 2 smugglers arrested with heroin worth ₹3.5 crore hidden in car in Mandsaur
Mandsaur : In a major drug haul, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has seized a huge quantity of heroin worth Rs 3.5 crore near Shamgarh Suwasra Road and arrested two people in this connection. The seized drugs were hidden in a secret box in the rear tire of the car.
The team received information that a large consignment of contraband was being taken towards Mandsaur in a car. Acting on a tip-off, the team set up a naka near Garoth Shamgarh Road in Bardiya Amra village.
The team stopped a car on suspicion and caught two persons sitting in the car. The car was taken to the Central Narcotics Office for further investigation. When interrogated, the driver revealed that the drugs were hidden in a secret box in the rear tires of the car.
A subsequent search led to the recovery of 3.4 kg of heroin hidden in a secret compartment near a tyre. The estimated value of the seized drugs is around Rs 3.5 crore.
The CNB team has taken the accused into custody. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for drug possession. Further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination of the supply.
Efforts are being made to trace other members of the gang and identify the area from where the consignment was being sent. Apart from this, raids will be conducted to trace the source of supply of drugs in the area.
