Kuwait: Indian Embassy celebrated Republic Day
Kuwait City: Embassy of India in Kuwait celebrated the 75th Republic Day of India. India’s Ambassador to Kuwait Adarsh Swaika hoisted the national flag and read out President Draupadi Murmu’s address to the nation. More than 4000 Indians participated in the Republic Day celebrations. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait shared glimpses of its celebrations on social media platform X.

More than 4000 Indians participated in the ceremony.” This year, India is celebrating its 75th Republic Day, which marks the adoption of the Constitution and attainment of sovereignty on 26 January 1950. On this occasion, many world leaders including US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Australian PM Anthony Albanese, Maldives President Mohammed Muizzu and former Maldives President Ibrahim Solih wished India a happy Republic Day. Meanwhile, President Draupadi Murmu on Friday began the 75th Republic Day celebrations by hoisting the national flag on the duty path.
On reaching the path of duty, President Murmu was welcomed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Along with this, the national anthem was played and the President was given a 21-gun salute. As per tradition, the national flag was hoisted, followed by singing of the national anthem and a 21-gun salute along with the indigenous gun system 105-mm India N Field Gun. President Murmu and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, who is the chief guest at this year’s Republic Day celebrations, were escorted by the President’s bodyguard – the ‘President’s Bodyguard’. Both Presidents arrived on the official tour in ‘traditional buggies’, a tradition that returned after a gap of 40 years.
Colonel Amit Berwal, Commandant of the President’s Body Guard, led this distinguished contingent of horsemen, riding on the right side of the President’s carriage. On the left side of the President’s carriage is the regiment’s second-in-command, Lieutenant Colonel Ramakant Yadav. Four Mi-17 IV helicopters of 105 Helicopter Unit showered flowers on the spectators present on the duty path.
This was followed by a band performance called ‘Aavahan’, in which more than 100 women artistes played a variety of percussion instruments, which is a symbol of women power. The gun salute was presented by the ceremonial battery of the 871st Field Regiment (Shingo) East Headquarters 36th Artillery Brigade. The Ceremonial Battery is commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Vikas Kumar, SM. The gun position officer is Subedar (AIG) Anoop Singh. A 21-gun salute along with the indigenous gun system 105 mm India N Field Gun was given on the duty path.
The 21-gun salute is the highest military honor bestowed upon the national flag in the line of duty. The gun salute is synchronized with three simultaneous actions, namely, unfurling of the national flag, playing of the national anthem by the service band and the national salute presented by the President’s bodyguard.
