Karnataka: Muslim MLAs made a budget plan of Rs 5 thousand crore for the upliftment of the community

Bengaluru: MLAs from the minority community have drawn up a plan for the development of the Muslim community, and submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to allocate Rs 4,990 crore in the upcoming state budget for the upliftment of the community with a focus on education. And healthcare.

Leaders including Kalaburagi MLA Kaneez Fatima, Shantinagar MLA NA Haris, MLC and CM’s political secretary Naseer Ahmed, former MLA Firoz Sait and others submitted the memorandum to the CM through minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan. They have unanimously demanded educational opportunities for the community, allocation of more degree colleges, scholarships and health care facilities.

MLC Naseer Ahmed said that a meeting was held recently where the leaders decided on the overall development of the community. “We have prepared a budget of Rs 4,990 crore. The main focus is to uplift the community by providing the best educational opportunities. We have also asked for scholarships,” Ahmed said.

He sought to revive the Rs 800 crore Chief Minister Special Development Scheme to develop slums inhabited mainly by minorities across the state. “During the first term between 2013 to 2018, CM Siddaramaiah came up with a budget allocation of Rs 800 crore. “The idea was to improve the quality of life of people living in slums, by providing basic amenities,” Ahmed said.

MLA Haris said that issues related to Muslim students and others were discussed in a recent meeting. Firoz Sait said he demanded more colleges in the districts under Morarji Desai residential schools. “We have asked for more scholarships and financial assistance for students who travel abroad for higher studies.”
