Three members of the same family committed suicide, after a fight the woman jumped in front of the train

Gadag: Three members of a family, including two women, committed suicide following a dispute over loan in a village in Karnataka’s Gadag district. The incident took place in Gonal village of Lakshmeshwar taluk of the district.

The deceased have been identified as 49-year-old Renuka Teli, her son Manjunath Teli, 22, and relative Savakka Teli, 47. According to the police, there was a dispute between mother Renuka and son Manjunath regarding repayment of the tractor loan. The family had purchased the tractor by taking a loan of Rs 4 lakh from the bank.

After the fight, Renuka Teli left the house and committed suicide by jumping in front of a train. Initial reports suggested that her son Manjunath was following her and was hit by the train while trying to stop his mother. After getting information about the deaths, Manjunath’s aunt Sakavva Teli hanged herself at home. The police have taken the matter into investigation and are recording the statements of eyewitnesses.
