30 cattle were freed, 2 smugglers arrested
Udhampur police today rescued 30 cattle and arrested the drivers besides seizing two vehicles used for cattle smuggling.
Reports say that the team from Police Post Tikri rescued 11 cattle, which were loaded in a vehicle with registration number JK02AN-8175. Police also seized the vehicle and arrested its driver, identified as Mohammed. Aslam, son of Mohammad Hanif of Anantnag.
Another attempt to smuggle cattle was foiled when a police team from police station Rehambal stopped another vehicle with registration number JK14J -9177 at Naka Point Phalata. 19 cattle were rescued and the driver of the vehicle identified as Mohammad Yakub, son of Mohammad Sharif of Railway Colony, Udhampur, was arrested on the spot.
In both the cases, FIR has been registered at PS Rehambal under relevant sections of the law and further investigation is underway.
