Online betting on IPL cricket match, two youth arrested

Raigarh: Police action continues on online cricket betting in the city. Cyber cell and police team have arrested two more youths in the city for betting on Delhi-Chennai cricket match. Let us tell you that on Sunday, Cyber Cell and Kotwali police had arrested three accused of online cricket betting in the city.

On the information of an informer, two youths were caught betting online on the IPL cricket match between Delhi and Chennai at Dhimrapur Chowk. Also, Rs 15,000 in cash and a mobile phone worth about Rs 42,000 have been seized from one of the accused. Whereas, Rs 20,000 cash and mobile phone worth about Rs 1 lakh 30 thousand have been seized from the second accused.

Both these accused have been caught investing money in online betting on cricket matches. A link for playing cricket betting on WhatsApp was also found in the mobile of the accused. Action has been taken against both the accused in Kotwali police station under Section 7 of Chhattisgarh Gambling Prohibition Act. In both the actions, the police have also seized a total of Rs 2 lakh 7 thousand involved in betting.
