Hyderabad News: Be prepared for heavy rain in Hyderabad on Sunday
Hyderabad: After a prolonged dry spell, Hyderabad is expected to receive heavy rains today, bringing much-needed relief. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has forecast heavy thunderstorms in south, east and central Telangana districts, bringing an end to the ongoing heat wave. As of 12 noon, the minimum temperature across the city was above 34 degrees Celsius, according to data from the Telangana State Planning and Development Society. Dr K Nagarathna, Director, IMD Hyderabad said, “Light to moderate to intense rainfall is forecast in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (ghmc) area from afternoon to night.” “Heavy rainfall is likely in south, east and central districts of Telangana, including thundershowers and winds with speeds of 40-50 km/hr, gusting up to 60 km/hr.” Due to the expected rainfall, the temperature is expected to drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius, bringing some relief from the prevailing heat. The yellow alert indicating light to moderate rainfall will remain in effect in Hyderabad till June 6. As per the IMD forecast, the monsoon is likely to arrive in Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana after June 6. Restricted movement advisories have been issued for Sunday. Waterlogging is likely on roads and low-lying areas at many places, leading to traffic jams at several places. Residents are advised to stay updated with weather advisories and take necessary precautions to stay safe during the expected heavy rains.
