YSRC shifts central office to Andhra Pradesh to expand reach

VIJAYAWADA. Vijayawada: YSRC president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has started taking steps to re-strengthen the party at the grassroots level after the party’s big defeat in the Andhra Pradesh elections. Under this, the central office of YSRC will be shifted next to Jagan’s residence in Tadepalli, so that the leaders and workers can reach him more. It is expected to be operational from June 10. Initially, the state office of YSRC used to be in Hyderabad. In 2017, it was shifted to Vijayawada. After this, Jagan Mohan Reddy bought land in Tadepalli and built his house. He built the party’s central office next to the house. The party conducted all political activities from this office till the 2019 elections, when the YSRC chief became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Reluctant to work from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) at the state secretariat in Velagapudi, Jagan Mohan Reddy converted his party office into the CM’s camp office. He shifted the YSRC central office to another campus in Tadepalli. Now the CM’s camp office will turn into the central office of YSRC.

Ever since he became the chief minister, the gap between Jagan Mohan Reddy and leaders and workers had grown largely due to lack of communication. After the announcement of the 2024 results, several party leaders have alleged that leaders like Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and others prevented them from bringing various issues to the notice of Jagan Mohan Reddy, leaving him clueless about the ground realities.

Senior analysts say the YSRC chief held a plenary session only on July 7 and July 8 in 2022 in the last five years. Apart from this, he has not held any party meeting with leaders and workers.

Analysts say that earlier Jagan Mohan Reddy was in touch with the ground realities and public issues as he interacted with party workers and common people during his Praja Sankalpa Yatra. This resulted in the creation of Navaratnalu, which led the YSRC to a massive victory in the 2019 elections.

However, after becoming the CM, his interaction with party workers and people came to a halt, leading to the failure to prepare an impressive party manifesto that could ignite the imagination of the people.
YSRC leaders say Jagan Mohan Reddy’s decision to shift the YSRC central office is aimed at improving the outreach of workers. This will help the YSRC become the “voice of the voiceless” in all aspects.
