CHENNAI: Vijay to visit Tamil Nadu ahead of 2026 assembly elections
Chennai: Actor-politician Vijay, who is gearing up for the 2026 assembly elections, is planning to go on a tour across Tamil Nadu to meet people, a senior functionary of his party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam said. Speaking to party functionaries in Karur on Friday, TVK general secretary Bussy N Anand said party leader Vijay will soon go on a tour across Tamil Nadu, where he will meet functionaries in every district and encourage them to actively participate in the 2026 state assembly election work.
Political leaders in Tamil Nadu visiting the state and meeting people is not new. In 2016, DMK president MK Stalin went on a five-month-long statewide tour ‘Namaku Naame’. Similarly, Tamil Nadu BJP unit chief K Annamalai went on a six-month-long padayatra in July 2023, which culminated in February with PM Narendra Modi’s address in Palladam. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has also embarked on an all-India tour called ‘Bharat Jodhaa Yatra’.
