Chandigarh: Sector 26 Mandi will remain closed for 2 hours daily for cleaning work

Chandigarh: The UT Market Committee has announced that the Sector 26 Mandi will remain closed for cleaning work from 12 noon to 2 pm every day. During this period, no selling or buying activity will be allowed and no vehicle will be permitted to enter the Mandi.
The decision has been taken in response to concerns about the constant movement of people and vehicles, which hinders cleaning operations. Despite the best efforts of the cleaning staff, maintaining proper hygienic conditions has been challenging due to illegal encroachment by vendors and high volume of daily traffic. Around 500 vehicles enter the Mandi every day for loading and unloading of goods. The two-hour closure from 12 noon to 2 pm has been chosen as the visitor arrivals remain low during that period due to the prevailing heat.
