Nurpur: The ‘suspicious’ people included in the police alert turned out to be BSF soldiers
Nurpur: Three persons seen in uniform yesterday near the Himachal-Punjab border in Nurpur police district have been identified as personnel of the 127th battalion of the Border Security Force (BSf), police said today. The police had issued an alert after some persons with suspicious background were seen in BSF uniform in Nangal area near Damtal on the Punjab border. The three were on casual leave and had hired a private vehicle. An alert was issued in the army and police circles of Pathankot and Nurpur police districts after a video of the three drinking sugarcane juice by the roadside went viral on social media. Nurpur district Police had on Tuesday sounded a high alert along the inter-state border in the district.
Nurpur SP Ashok Ratan told The Tribune that the army authorities have checked the credentials of these persons. He said that according to the information circulated by the army officials, the jawans have been identified as Darmiki James, who was on casual leave from June 29 to July 20, Aminul Islam who was on casual leave from June 29 to July 20; and Achal Sharma who was on leave from June 29 to July 29. He said that the jawans had hired a private vehicle and they stayed at Nagal Bhur on National Highway-44. People living in the inter-state border areas heaved a sigh of relief when the three were identified as BSF personnel.
