Municipal body elections Let us tell you that after the assembly and Lok Sabha elections, now the exercise of urban body elections has started. The Urban Administration and Development Department has given instructions to delimit the wards in the bodies afresh in view of the urban body elections in November-December. Secretary of Urban Administration and Development Department Dr. Basavaraju S. has issued a circular to the collectors of all the districts in this regard.
In the circular issued to the collectors, it has been said that the delimitation will be done on the basis of the population of 2011. The population of 2011 has been stated to be 2.55 crores. At present the population is more than three crores. There are 184 bodies in the state, while elections will be held in 169 of these bodies. The term of the remaining bodies will be completed in the year 2025. Instructions have been given to carry out the delimitation work seriously so that the voter list can be prepared soon.
