CG NEWS: Due to increase in tendu leaf collection rate, collectors earned 18.73 crore more profit
Raipur raipur news. Collection of tendu leaves, known as green gold, is a source of additional income apart from agriculture in rural areas. In Chhattisgarh, tendu leaves are collected on a large scale as minor forest produce. More than 12 lakh villagers are directly associated with this work. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, tendu leaf collectors of Chhattisgarh state are now being paid at the rate of Rs 5500 per standard sack. Due to which collectors are getting 15 hundred rupees more than the earlier 4 thousand per standard sack, due to which the income of collectors from tendu leaf collection has increased. chhattisgarh

In terms of increased rates, the collectors of the district have got an additional profit of Rs 18.73 crore. The Managing Director of District Minor Forest Produce Cooperative Union Limited, Raigarh and Dharamjaigarh informed that 94 lots of 112 Primary Forest Produce Cooperative Societies have been fixed in the year 2024 Tendu leaf season in two District Forest Produce Cooperative Unions Raigarh and Dharamjaigarh under Raigarh district.
A target of 1 lakh 40 thousand 600 standard sacks was set for collection work in 747 collection centers in the district, in which 1 lakh 24 thousand 874.760 standard sacks have been collected against the target of tendu leaf collection. This year the collection rate is fixed at Rs 5500 per standard sack (Rs 550 per hundred bundles). Amrit Lal Agariya and his wife Mrs. Puna Agariya of Gerwani Committee Phad Saraipali told that in the season they had plucked 3640 tendu leaf bundles and sold them, from which they got a profit of Rs 20 thousand 20. Expressing gratitude towards Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, he said that due to this sensitive decision, we collectors are getting more money than before, which is becoming the basis of additional income for us.
Similarly, Nathiram and his wife Sukhmani of Gerwani Samiti Phad Gaurmudi told that they had broken 3420 bundles of tendu leaves and sold them, which gave them a profit of Rs 18,810. Keeping in mind the problems during rains, with the money received, they have repaired the roof of the thatched house and got an asbestos roof installed in it and have also spent money on the doli field.
