BRS moves adjournment motion
Hyderabad: Condemning the “shameful and disrespectful” behaviour of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka in the state assembly, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Thursday moved an adjournment motion in the House seeking a discussion on the issue. The party demanded an unconditional apology from the two leaders. BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Wednesday expressed displeasure over the behaviour of the chief minister and deputy chief minister with senior MLAs P Sabita Indra Reddy and P Sunitha Lakshma Reddy during the assembly session. “The behaviour of the chief minister and deputy chief minister towards women in the assembly was extremely disrespectful. It shocked and surprised me,” he said. Rama Rao said senior MLAs and former ministers Sabita Indra Reddy and Sunitha Lakshma Reddy are known for their dedicated public service as well as dignified behaviour and decent conduct. “These comments by the Congress leaders show their contempt and disrespect not only towards our leaders but also towards all women,” he said. He demanded an immediate and unconditional apology from the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister to both the senior women legislators. “It is shameful to speak so lightly about such respected women leaders,” he said. The BRS working president said the Congress leaders have shown deep contempt for women through their remarks. “Women are watching the behaviour of Congress leaders,” he warned. The BRS called for statewide protests and burning of effigies of Revanth Reddy in all district headquarters on Thursday and condemned his derogatory remarks. However, protests began soon after the Assembly was adjourned on Wednesday and BRS leaders burnt effigies in several parts of the state.
