The court has adjourned the hearing of the case till October 14, 2024. Daljinder Singh, in his complaint filed before the court through advocate NK Nanda, sought direction to the police to register and prosecute a case under sections 318, 338, 336, 340 and 61 (2) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) for allegedly duping him of more than Rs 70 lakh. He said he has two companies – M/s Nanaksar Infra and M/s Guptasar Infra. These companies are engaged in the business of public transport, trucks, tippers and mixers etc.

He said a person contacted him and claimed that he is the project director of a company. The person claimed that he has been allotted a contract to lay sand on a 175 km four-lane road in Uttarakhand. He said he told the accused that since the project work is huge, he needs 50 per cent advance payment to start the work. He said that on August 30, 2024, he gave the quotation of the work to the project director. The project director further told him that he would take 15% commission in cash from the complainant for allotting the said work, which he accepted. He said that on August 31, 2024, the person transferred Rs 8.33 crore through RTGS to the company’s current account in a bank located in Sector 15, Chandigarh. He said that soon after transferring the amount, the person started demanding his commission in cash. He gave Rs 70,00,000 in cash to the person in Chandigarh on September 2, 2024. The same evening, he received a message from his bankers that the company’s current account has been frozen. He alleged that as part of a pre-planned conspiracy, the person withdrew the money from the company’s bank account leaving it with zero balance. He said when he contacted him, the accused stopped picking up the phone. He said the accused person has committed offences under Sections 318, 338, 336, 340 and 61 (2) of the Indian Justice Code, 2023 and should be prosecuted.
