MP Brijmohan demanded to open girls hostels in tribal and backward areas
New Delhi/Raipur. An important meeting of the Parliament’s Standing Committee on Education, Women and Child Development, Youth and Sports was held in New Delhi on Friday. In this meeting, a detailed discussion was held on the Child Marriage Prohibition (Amendment) Bill, 2021. Raipur MP Brijmohan Agarwal also gave his suggestions in the committee meeting, which are going to bring significant changes in the society. He says that to prevent premature marriage of adolescent girls, it is necessary to educate them and make them self-reliant through skill development, which reflects a far-reaching approach.
He stressed the need to build girls’ hostels in backward and tribal areas, as many girls leave their studies due to lack of proper living arrangements, and parents marry them at an early age. Along with this, Agarwal suggested opening a women’s desk in every police station and a women’s police station at the district level to prevent crimes against women. He also said that, just like special officers are appointed in SC/ST cases, special officers should also be appointed for women, so that crimes can be prevented and they can get speedy justice.
Which will not only ensure the safety of women but will also promote gender equality in the society.

Officials and representatives of National Commission for Women, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development shared their views on the bill. Through this bill, it has been proposed to increase the marriage age of girls from 18 to 21 years. This step has been taken with the aim of promoting women’s health, education, and empowerment. Its main objective is to provide more opportunities for education and personal development to girls, so that they can become self-reliant and empowered in their lives. MP Brijmohan Agarwal said, “This bill will become a medium to bring positive change in the society. Girls will get more time and opportunities for education, health and self-reliance. This is not just a legal change, but a historic step giving a new direction to the society.” He also said that this bill reflects the government’s commitment to give equal rights to the girl child and their progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This step will not only make India a strong and progressive nation but will also help in eliminating the inequalities that have taken root in the society.
