GRP seizes silver jewellery weighing 75 kg from man in Rourkela
Rourkela: Following the suspicious movements of a man, the Government Railway Police (GRP) seized 75 KG of silver jewellery from him and detained him at the Rourkela railway station on Thursday.
A resident of Ranchi, Chandan Kumar was moving suspiciously at the railway station which led to the police authorities to question him. However, he was not able to provide a satisfactory answer regarding the source and the purpose of the silver jewellery.
The GRP has handed over the case to the GST (Goods and Services Tax) department for further investigation. It is suspected that the silver ornaments were transported without proper GST documentation. The GST department has started a detailed inquiry into the matter to verify the legality of the consignment.
This incident shows the ongoing efforts of the police to limit the illegal transport of the goods without proper paper work. Further details awaited as investigation is in progress.
