Hyderabad: Tired of harassment, woman commits suicide
Hyderabad: A woman committed suicide in Nacharam, Hyderabad on Thursday, December 26. The woman allegedly committed suicide after a friend harassed her over financial issues. The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Pulavathi Deepthi. She was a PhD holder and was working at a research institute in Tarnaka, Hyderabad. A complaint was recently filed with the Nacharam police against Deepthi’s father. The complainant Anitha alleged that she had given Rs 35 lakh to Deepthi’s father, who promised to arrange a government job for the complainant’s relative. However, Deepthi’s father Sangeet Rao absconded after taking the money. Nacharam police said, “After Rao absconded, Anitha’s family used to visit Deepthi’s house for the last few days and quarrel with the victim’s family. Deepthi went into depression over the issue and committed suicide by hanging herself.” Following Deepthi’s death, the Nacharam police have registered a case against Anitha, her husband Anil and others under Section 108 (abetment to suicide) of the BNS and are investigating.
