Youth arrested for opening fake Instagram ID in minor girl’s name and posting obscene photos
Berhampur: A youth was arrested on Thursday on charges of opening a fake Instagram ID in the name of a minor girl and posting obscene photos in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
The arrested youth has been identified as Sibananda Roul of Durbandha village under Belagan police station limits of the district.
The Berhampur Cyber and Economic Offences Police Station swung into action following the complaint of the girl and her family members. They recorded the statement of the girl and registered a case against Roul.
It is alleged that apart from opening fake Instagram ID in her name and posting obscene photos, the accused also used send messages using different mobile numbers, due to which she was mentally harassed.
In course of the investigation, police arrested Roul on charges of opening a fake Instagram account in her name and posting objectionable photos.
The Cyber police also seized a mobile phone from the possessions of Sibananda, who is a neighbour of the minor girl, said sources.
The accused was forwarded to the court following his arrest and completion of medical examination and legal document works, added the source.
Further probe is underway to find out others involvement into the matter.
