A photo of the Bastar Olympics was shared with the caption “Jai Bastar, Jai Chhattisgarh”.

Jagdalpur. The Bastar Olympics commenced today. CM Sai wrote in his post, “I have come here today to witness the enthusiasm and joy of the Bastar Olympics on the sacred land of Bastar. This confluence of sports, culture, and youth power is a glimpse of the bright future of a peaceful and prosperous Bastar, free from Naxalism. Jai Bastar, Jai Chhattisgarh.”

Hundreds of athletes from the seven districts of the Bastar division—Kanker, Bastar, Dantewada, Sukma, Narayanpur, Bijapur, and Kondagaon—are participating in this divisional-level event. Notably, surrendered Naxalites and members of families affected by Naxal violence are also participating in the Bastar Olympics.

More than 761 participants from different districts will compete in various sports. Bastar IG Sundarraj P. said that in addition to the seven teams from the seven districts, there will be an eighth team comprising surrendered Naxalites and members of families affected by Naxal violence. This eighth team is named ‘Nua Baat’.

The IG said that in 2024, the number of participants was approximately 350. However, this time, the ‘Nua Baat’ team alone has approximately 761 participants. He added that their participation in the Bastar Olympics will boost their morale.
