Heat havoc in Tamil Nadu: Public health experts advise caution

Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu: Amidst the increasing heat wave in Tamil Nadu, public health experts have warned people to take health precautions. Experts say that the risk of heart attack and stroke increases during the summer season. The main reasons behind this are said to be lack of water in the body and formation of blood clots.
The Meteorological Department has warned of temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the state. The effect of heat is increasing rapidly in many cities of Tamil Nadu and it is likely to continue in the coming days. In this situation, doctors have advised the general public to exercise caution.
Public health expert Dr. Kadaswami said that it is very important to drink enough water during the summer season. He advised people to drink water frequently and consume fresh and hydrating foods like buttermilk and porridge. He says that despite staying at home in summer, one should not let the body suffer from dehydration.
Experts also said that when there is lack of water in the body, the blood becomes thick and clots are formed. This increases the risk of serious health problems like heart attack and stroke. Therefore, maintaining hydration in summer is the most important step.
Children, elderly people and people already suffering from diseases like heart disease or high blood pressure need to take special precautions during the summer season. Doctors have advised to avoid prolonged exposure to strong sunlight and go out only in the morning or evening. Also, wear light, cotton and loose clothes to keep the body cool.
Public health officials have appealed to the people of the state to protect themselves from overheating in the summer and to immediately contact a doctor if they feel any unhealthy symptoms. Heat often causes problems like dehydration, heat stroke, fatigue and dizziness. To avoid these, water, fresh fruit juice, light food and adequate rest are necessary.
Experts also said to limit physical exertion and exercise in summer. If you are working out, take adequate breaks and drink cold water or electrolytes. The body can be kept cool by using fans or ACs in public places and homes.
Dr. Kadaswamy finally said that maintaining health in summer depends on complete caution and regular hydration. By drinking enough water, eating light and nutritious food, and avoiding strong sunlight, people can avoid serious problems like heart attack and stroke.
