Police arrested a knife-wielding youth under the Arms Act and sent him to jail.
Raigarh. Police in Kotwali police station have taken swift action and arrested the accused who created a ruckus in their home, brandishing a knife and threatening to kill, and sent him to judicial custody under the Arms Act. The family was terrified by the accused’s actions and had to flee to the police station.
Detailing the case, it was reported that the mother, Mrs. Kaushalya Meshram (77), filed a report against the accused, Siddharth Meshram alias Golu, son of the late Fatelal Meshram, age 28, resident of Gujaratipara, Kotwali police station, Raigarh district, on January 4, 2026. The woman stated that her younger son, Siddharth, is an alcoholic and quarrelsome person who regularly creates a ruckus in the house after consuming alcohol. He resorts to violence when refused. This afternoon, he returned home from the market and demanded seven lakh rupees to leave. When she refused, he abused and pushed her out of the house, and then charged at her with a sharp knife, attempting to attack her. When his elder son, Ujyal Meshram, tried to convince him, he also hurled obscene abuses at him and threatened to kill him, chasing him with a knife. The family somehow managed to escape and reached the police station, but the accused followed them brandishing a knife.
On the woman’s report, a case was registered at the Raigarh police station under crime number 07/2026 under sections 119(1), 296, 351(2) of the Indian Penal Code, and sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act. Considering the seriousness of the incident, under the direction of Station House Officer, Kotwali Inspector Sukhnandan Patel, Sub-Inspector Dilip Behera and accompanying staff took security measures and immediately detained the accused, Siddharth Meshram alias Golu. A sharp steel knife was seized from the accused’s possession. After the necessary proceedings, the accused was produced in court and sent to judicial custody.
