The World Women’s Summit was inaugurated today in Chennai by the Chief Minister.

Tamil Nadu: The state government is organizing a Global Women’s Summit in Chennai on Tuesday and Wednesday (January 27 and 28). Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will inaugurate the event.
A press release issued by the Tamil Nadu government on Monday stated: The Global Women’s Summit, organized by the Tamil Nadu Women’s Employment and Security Scheme under the Special Schemes Implementation Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu, is being held at the Nandambakkam Trade Centre in Chennai on Tuesday and Wednesday (January 27 and 28). Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will inaugurate the conference.
This summit is part of Tamil Nadu’s ongoing efforts to strengthen institutions that help women access, retain, and return to work across all sectors.
More than 500 people will participate in the conference, including Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, World Bank Regional Director Sem Mate, UN Women Representative Kanta Singh, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) India Representative Angela Lucky, Mauritius Chief Whip Naveena Ramyead, and representatives from industry, academia, corporate social responsibility (CSR) partners, and various organizations.
Sessions will be held on 11 themes over the two days. More than 70 dignitaries will speak at the event. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin will preside over the valedictory function.
It was announced that at the valedictory function, a statewide campaign will be launched to support women’s skill development and access to formal employment.
