Tamil Nadu: The extended deadline for adding names to the voter list in Tamil Nadu ends today (Feb 10).

The special intensive revision of the voter list in Tamil Nadu has been ongoing since Nov 4. 97.38 lakh voters were removed from the draft voter roll published on Dec 19. As a result, the total number of voters in Tamil Nadu has decreased from 64,114,587 to 54,376,756.

Of the 97.38 lakh voters removed, 6,644,881 were homeless, 2,694,672 had died, and 398,278 had dual registrations.

Meanwhile, those whose names were removed from the draft voter list from Dec 19 to Jan 19 will be able to add their names back to the list. Those who had attained the age of 18 were given time to add their names until January 18th, and those who had attained the age of 18 were given time to add new names. Additionally, notices were sent to 1,243,363 people on the draft voter list, stating that they had not provided the required information.

They were given time until January 18th to submit the required documents along with an affidavit. They filled out Form 6 to add new names and Form 8 to transfer them.

Two special camps were set up over the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, to add names. Political parties in Tamil Nadu requested an extension due to the upcoming holidays.

Following this, the Election Commission ordered the registration process, which ended on January 18th, to be extended until January 30th.

The Supreme Court ordered the Election Commission to extend the registration process by another 10 days.

In this situation, the extended deadline for adding names to the voter list in Tamil Nadu ends today (February 10).

Newly submitted forms are verified and uploaded, and the final voter list is published on February 17.
