Tamil Nadu competes with countries across the world: CM Stalin proud
Tamil Nadu: Chief Minister M.K. Stalin proudly stated that Tamil Nadu competes with countries around the world, not just other states, in the industrial sector.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, while inaugurating the Tata Motors Jaguar and Range Rover car manufacturing plant, built on 570 acres at an estimated cost of ₹9,000 crore, at the Panpakkam Chipkot Industrial Estate in Nemili taluk, near Arakkonam in Ranipet district, on Monday, said:
Tata Motors has inaugurated its car manufacturing plant with an investment of ₹9,000 crore, providing employment to 5,000 workers. I want to thank Tata Motors for trusting the Tamil Nadu government and opening the plant.
When I laid the foundation stone for this factory in 2024, I requested that the factory be opened and production begin within 18 months. I am very happy that the construction work was completed in just 16 months, and Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran attended the inauguration ceremony. It is a great honor for Tamil Nadu to have him head a globally renowned company. The Tata Group has a close relationship with Tamil Nadu. Many Tata companies, such as TCS, Titan, and Taj Hotels, are already present here.
Tamil Nadu is becoming a leading state in global automobile manufacturing. In particular, Tamil Nadu is the headquarters for electric vehicle manufacturing. A world-class factory has been set up in Tamil Nadu, and a large car manufacturing plant has been commissioned to compete with multinational companies.
Tamil Nadu is a state that is unique in promoting industry. I have consistently urged Industries Minister T.R.P. Raja to attract investment through MoUs in the industrial sector and then build factories to provide jobs to the youth. I commend him for doing this effectively.
We have not only set up factories, but have also made Tamil Nadu an advanced state in the industrial sector by facilitating timely permits and approvals from various departments. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said that Tamil Nadu is currently competing with countries around the world in the industrial sector, rather than other states. Earlier, the Chief Minister was welcomed by Tata Group Chairman Chandrasekaran. The Chief Minister then unveiled a statue of former Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata. He also inspected the car production units at the factory.
In addition, the first Jaguar Range Rover manufactured at the factory was unveiled, along with the first person to drive the car.
