DMK alliance will fail due to contradictions: G.K. Vasan’s special opinion

Tamil Nadu: The Tamil Nadu Congress is contesting five seats under the BJP’s lotus symbol as part of the National Democratic Alliance. In an interview with Dinamani, Tamil Nadu Congress Party leader G.K. Vasan answered questions about the alliance’s chances of winning, why it is contesting under the lotus symbol, and its role in the government.
Won’t contesting under the BJP symbol while retaining the Congress name create confusion among voters?
In the last Lok Sabha elections, we contested under the bicycle symbol in three seats, and in the last Assembly elections, we contested under the two-leaf symbol in six seats. Now, instead of contesting under a new symbol, because the Election Commission doesn’t have the necessary regulations, we are contesting under the BJP’s lotus symbol as part of the alliance. The outcome of the election is determined by people’s opinions, not the symbol.
Why did you choose the lotus symbol instead of the two-leaf symbol?
Since we have decided to align with the BJP, we thought it would be appropriate to contest under the lotus symbol. Also, this is because we are a party that promotes nationalism.
Areas where DMK ministers are strong have been reserved for the DMK to contest directly…
Because the DMK is in the BJP-led alliance, seats were allocated to them after consultation with the AIADMK. Ministers are also contesting the elections. DMK ministers are weaker than ordinary candidates in their areas. Because of issues like corruption, law and order, women’s safety, and farmers’ suffering, negative votes against ministers will determine the election results. Contesting elections against ministers is not a weakness, but a strength.
Is the DMK constantly accusing the central government of not providing necessary funds to Tamil Nadu? The DMK government is deceiving the people of Tamil Nadu by corruptly using central government funds and giving them freebies. People know that obtaining more funds from the central government is meant to fill their coffers. The allegation that the central government is not providing funds is simply an excuse they use to divert people’s attention from their corruption.
Is it true that the central government doesn’t provide Tamil Nadu with the same funds as BJP-ruled states?
If they showed how the funds were spent, they would provide more. If they were trying to increase their vote bank by giving away freebies, how would they distribute the funds allocated by the central government for development projects? The Stalin government, which claims the central government did not provide funds, transferred ₹5,000 to 13.1 million families in a single day, or ₹6,500 crore to their bank accounts? How will the National Democratic Alliance deal with the vote division caused by the Thaveka contest?
People are ready for a change of government. The National Democratic Alliance is certain to win in Tamil Nadu. The AIADMK-led alliance will win more than expected. The new parties will cause a vote division in our favor. The angry votes against the DMK government will go to our alliance. No matter how many parties come, the AIADMK will be the only alternative team.
Is the AIADMK also offering free projects against the DMK?
Political parties announce free schemes as election promises to influence public opinion. All have promised free schemes. The AIADMK alliance is the only one that fulfills its promises. The AIADMK, which works in coordination with the central government, can fulfill its promises. Now, people will think and vote about how the DMK, which claims the central government has not provided funds and Tamil Nadu is in a financial crisis, can fulfill its promises.
Will women’s programs help the DMK?
From children to adults, there is no security in Tamil Nadu. We can only benefit from schemes if we are alive. Women will end the DMK government.
