Tamil Nadu: Heavy rain likely in Delta districts; Meteorological Department issues warning.

Tamil Nadu: There is a possibility of worsening weather on Sunday (June 14). The delta districts of the state, mainly Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur, may receive heavy rains. Chennai Meteorological Department has issued a press release in this regard and advised people to remain alert.
According to the Meteorological Department, atmospheric circulation is currently active in the coastal areas of Northern Tamil Nadu, due to which changes in the weather are being observed. Due to the effect of this system, there is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in many parts of the state on June 14.
The department said there is a possibility of moderate rain and lightning over Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Pudukkottai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Perambalur, Ariyalur and Kallakurichi districts as well as the Union Territory of Puducherry on Sunday. The weather in these areas may change suddenly and rain with strong winds may be recorded at some places.
Besides, the weather has been warned to remain more active in Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai districts and Karaikal region. There is a possibility of thunder, lightning and strong winds at a speed of about 50 kilometers per hour in these areas. Besides, there may be heavy rain at some places, due to which local life is expected to be affected.
The Meteorological Department has said that people living in coastal and delta areas need to take special precautions, as strong winds and incidents of lightning can pose a danger. Farmers and fishermen have also been advised to remain alert in view of the weather conditions.
The department further said that from June 15 to June 19, there will be a possibility of light to moderate rain at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal regions. The weather will remain relatively changeable during this period, but the intensity of heavy rains is expected to reduce.
Overall, the weather of Tamil Nadu is likely to remain unstable in the coming days and the administration has appealed to the people to keep an eye on the weather updates, so that any emergency can be avoided.
