Traffic plan released for Dehradun-Mussoorie-Rishikesh on Gandhi Jayanti weekend

Dehradun. In view of the long weekend of Gandhi Jayanti, the number of tourists and vehicles is likely to increase in Dehradun, Mussoorie and Rishikesh. In view of the possible crowd and traffic pressure from October 2 to 4, the traffic police has prepared a special traffic plan. Under the scheme, additional monitoring will be kept on the main routes and in case of parking spaces filling up or excessive pressure on any route, vehicles will be sent through alternative routes.
Due to the long weekend, a large number of tourists from many areas including Delhi, Haryana, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Saharanpur and Roorkee are expected to reach Dehradun and Mussoorie. In such a situation, maximum pressure may fall on Mussoorie Road, Rajpur Road, ISBT, Ballupur, Cantt area and major intersections of the city. In view of this, the traffic police has already made arrangements for route diversion and alternative routes.
Routes have been fixed for vehicles going to Mussoorie from different directions. Vehicles coming from Delhi, Haryana, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Saharanpur and Roorkee will be diverted through Datkali, ISBT, Shimla Bypass, Ballupur and Cantt area. Its objective is to control the sudden increase in traffic pressure in the inner parts of the city and on Rajpur Road.
Similarly, a separate route has been fixed for vehicles going to Mussoorie from Rishikesh and Doiwala. These vehicles will be sent ahead via Thano Road, Maharana Pratap Chowk, Pulia No. 6, Sahasradhara Crossing and IT Park. This will reduce the vehicular pressure on the main roads of the city and people going to Mussoorie will get an alternative route.
Parking system has also been given an important place in the traffic police plan. As the number of tourists increases, major parking lots in Mussoorie and Dehradun are likely to fill up quickly. In such a situation, when the parking capacity is reached, the vehicles will be diverted to other designated places. If necessary, traffic operations on some routes may be temporarily changed.
Due to Gandhi Jayanti and its surrounding holidays, more crowd is expected at tourist places this time. Usually during long weekends, hotels, markets and tourist places in Mussoorie, Rishikesh and Dehradun are filled with tourists. Due to sudden increase in the number of vehicles, many times there is long traffic jam on the major roads of the city. To avoid this problem, the traffic police has already prepared a plan.
Vehicles heading towards Mussoorie pass through different parts of the city. In such a situation, to avoid too much pressure on a single route, arrangements have been made to send vehicles by dividing them in different directions. The police is trying to ensure that the vehicles coming from outside move directly towards Mussoorie through the prescribed alternative routes instead of getting stuck in the busy markets and intersections of the city.
The purpose of sending the vehicles coming from Rishikesh and Doiwala through Thano Road is also to ensure that there is no additional pressure on the main part of Dehradun city. These vehicles will be moved through Maharana Pratap Chowk, Pulia Number Six, Sahasradhara Crossing and IT Park. The movement of vehicles will be kept relatively organized through this route.
The traffic police has appealed to the drivers and tourists to follow the prescribed routes and not park their vehicles wrongly on the roadside. Due to wrong parking, the width of main roads reduces and creates traffic jams. Such problems are seen especially in the tourist areas of Mussoorie and Dehradun.
Policemen will be deployed at major intersections, parking lots and diversion points to maintain the smooth traffic system. Depending on the situation, the route can be changed on the spot. If there is too much pressure on any route, vehicles will be immediately sent to another route.
The number of tourists is also likely to increase in Rishikesh during the long weekend. There is a crowd here even on normal days due to religious and tourist activities. This pressure may increase further during holidays. In view of this, special attention will be paid to monitoring of vehicles coming and going in the city and parking arrangements.
The main objective of the police plan is that tourists face minimum hassle in reaching their destination and the daily movement of local people is also not affected. For this, along with the main routes, alternative roads have also been kept ready.
Between October 2 and 4, traffic pressure may change depending on time and crowd. In such a situation, the traffic police will immediately implement diversion if necessary. Passengers have also been asked to get information about the route before starting the journey and follow the instructions of the police.
At present, with this traffic plan released for Gandhi Jayanti weekend, preparations have been made to control the increasing crowd in Dehradun, Mussoorie and Rishikesh. As the parking fills up and the pressure of vehicles increases, alternative arrangements will be implemented, so that the traffic system is not affected much during the long weekend.
