Protest of LPU students ends in Phagwara, traffic restored on National Highway-44 after 15 hours
Phagwara: Traffic was restored on National Highway-44 on Monday following a protest by students of Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Phagwara, Punjab. Police said that the situation is now under control and traffic on the highway has been normalized.
Students had protested fiercely in the campus on Sunday. After this, a large number of students reached outside the campus and blocked a part of the New Delhi-Amritsar highway. This jam lasted for more than 15 hours, due to which the passengers had to face problems.
Demonstration over alleged incident with student
According to the information, LPU students had started the protest over an alleged incident involving a student. The students alleged that an outsider had raped the student.
There was anger among the students regarding this matter and a large number of students came out on the streets. During the demonstration, students raised slogans and demanded action regarding their demands.
